Spalling and deteriorating concrete, failure of cast in decorative tiles and loose rendering are all problems that can be expensive and highly disruptive to repair, particularly on high rise properties. The need to protect people and property from falling items and debris is paramount, but traditional concrete repair techniques can require extensive scaffolding or other costly access equipment over lengthy periods of time. Whilst HCL can carry out concrete repair works, frequently a palliative repair such as overmeshing can offer a cost-effective temporary / semi permanent solution. This allows the permanent solution to be postponed until it can be programmed along side other planned maintenance works which will require similar access requirements. By installing a plastic coated steel mesh over the affected area, defective material is prevented from falling. Where required, the mesh can be colour coordinated with the original building fabric to provide a more aesthetic solution. The mesh can be secured using a range of techniques and is dependent on the type and condition of the substrate. A thorough understanding of the base material is required to ensure a suitable load bearing fixing can be achieved. With over 20 years experience in structural fixings, HCL is an expert in this specialist field. Please contact us for further information. |
